In this week's 'Please Explain,' we talk about burnout. Whether it’s the onslaught of negative news, or just accumulating stress at work, burnout is being reported at increasingly higher levels. Christina Maslach, Professor of Psychology at UC Berkeley, has done pioneering research on burnout. Journalist Moya Sarner recently published a story for The Guardian, “How burnout became a sinister and insidious epidemic.” Alexandria Neason, a Staff Writer at The Columbia Journalism Review and Senior Delacorte Fellow, discusses how this affects journalists in her story “The Burnout Year.” This segment is guest hosted by Arun Venugopal.
