Nikki Giovanni, poet, activist, seven-time NAACP Image Award winner, the first recipient of the Rosa Parks Woman of Courage Award, and recipient of the Langston Hughes Medal for Outstanding Poetry, joins us to discuss her book A Good Cry: What We Learn From Tears and Laughter. The book is a collection of stories about Giovanni's past as well as how people like her good friend Maya Angelou have shaped her.  Nikki Giovanni will appear in conversation with Joy-Ann Reid on Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Schomburg Center (515 Malcolm X Blvd, between 135th and 136th St.).
