George Shapiro, the legendary manager, film, and emmy award winning television producer started his career in the mailroom at the William Morris Agency and soon became an agent, where he began packaging hit programs such as “The Steve Allen Show,” “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour,” "That Girl," and "Gower Pyle,” as well as a number of specials for Dick Van Dyke, Carol Channing, and Mary Tyler Moore. Shapiro later left the Agency to become a manager and producer along with his partner and friend, Howard West, forming Shapiro/West Productions. Shapiro was Andy Kaufman’s personal manager for many years, executive producing the comedian’s specials for Showtime entitled and ABC…and is best known for executive producing the Emmy, Peabody, and Golden Gloden award winning series, “Seinfeld.” He also was executive producer on the Universal film “Man On The Moon” starring Jim Carrey in the role of Andy Kaufman and also produced the films "Summer Rental" with John Candy, "Sibling Rivalry” starring Kirstie Alley, and ”Summer School” with Mark Harmon. On Broadway, George was one of the producers of “Colin Quinn: Long Story Short," Executive Producer/Creator of “The Bronx Boys" and “The Bronx Boys Still Playing At 80.” and Executive Producer of the hit crackle series “Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.”
