Gig Alert: Jessica Lang Dance/Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater at White Light FestivalTickets: $35-$100. Shows at 7:30, Nov. 1 & Nov. 2 The 18th century Italian composer Giovanni Baptista Pergolesi is probably best known for his setting of the latin prayer Stabat Mater, which he finished shortly before his death at the age of 26. The piece has become a favorite of movie directors – it appears in the feature films Amadeus, Farinelli, Smilla’s Sense of Snow, and Andrei Tarkovsky’s The Mirror, among others. Now it is coming to the world of dance, courtesy of the choreographer and director Jessica Lang and her group, Jessica Lang Dance. Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater will be played by the Orchestra of St Luke’s and Jessica Lang Dance will perform to it as part of the annual White Light Festival at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater tonight and tomorrow.
