Lawrence Freedman, emeritus professor of War Studies at King's College London, joins us to discuss his new book, The Future of War: A History. Freedman uses examples from history to show how our predictions around war are often incorrect, yet we repeatedly return to those outdated ideas when thinking about future conflicts. This includes the idea that wars can be quickly won by using a "knock out blow." Freedman also how explores how our ideas about what constitutes a war is changing, and blurring the lines between war and peace.
