This past Tuesday, George Saunders was awarded The Man Booker Prize for his first novel Lincoln in the Bardo. The judges praised his book for its innovation – saying it was “like fireworks that light up the sky,” and that the novel truly captured the idea of reconciling oneself to one’s own mortality, and the mortality of others. Leonard spoke with George Saunders back in February about Lincoln in the Bardo, and for our Bonus Weekend Podcast we’re replaying that interview now, along with interviews Leonard has done with the previous two other Man Booker Prize Winners we’ve been lucky to have on our show: Paul Beatty for The Sellout, and Marlon James for A History of Seven Killings.
