Show at 7:30PMThe Finnish composer Jan Sibelius was an important figure in the drive for Finnish independence 100 years ago. Now, The Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra is teaming up with the Juilliard Orchestra to celebrate Finland’s centennial, with a concert that includes Sibelius, as well as composer and conductor Esa Pekka Salonen, and the late American composer Steve Stuckey, who was inspired by Sibelius’s symphonies. Both the Sibelius Academy and Juilliard orchestras join forces under Esa-Pekka Salonen tomorrow night at Alice Tully Hall. One of the pieces the orchestras will play is this beautiful work by Sibelius called "The Swan of Tuonela."
