Gig Alert: Japanese Breakfast – The Body Is A Blade (Weekly Music Roundup) Japanese Breakfast is not really a band; it’s the solo project of Michelle Zauner, who was the lead singer of the band Little Big League until she left the group to take care of her dying mother. Not surprisingly, this spawned a group of songs that looked at death, family history, and her identity as an Asian-American woman – Zauner is half Korean. Japanese Breakfast is the name she chose, and this year she released her second album.
