Award-winning actress Lois Smith and director Michael Almereyda discuss their new film, “Marjorie Prime.” Based on a play that was a 2015 Pulitzer Prize finalist, the film is set in the near-future at a time when robots serve as companions to the elderly. Smith, who starred in the stage version, plays Marjorie, an 85-year-old-woman facing onset dementia who is given a young, male robot to keep her company. "Marjorie Prime" opens at Quad Cinemas (34 W. 13th St., between 5th and 6th Ave.) on Aug. 18th.  Event: Jon Hamm, Lois Smith and director Michael Almereyda will hold Q&As for the 6:35 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. shows on Aug. 18.
