Jack Nicas, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, joins us to discuss his article, "Paying Professors: Inside Google's Academic Influence Campaign." His investigation looks at how Google has been paying out millions to academics who publish papers that Google finds useful, topics that include antitrust, intellectual property and patent laws. While Google is not the only tech company that has been paying for favorable research, Nicas found that they are one of biggest perpetrators, and that the company funds conferences and research by trade groups, think tanks and consulting firms.  This segment of "The Leonard Lopate Show" is guest hosted by Manoush Zomorodi.
