Producer Tom Jennings reconstructs the search for and capture of serial killer David Berkowitz in his new documentary, “The Lost Tapes: Son of Sam.” Using rare -and sometimes never before seen- home movies, TV reports and police footage, Jennings retells a dark moment in the mid-70s in NYC, where Berkowitz would ultimately murder six people and critically wounded seven others. “The Lost Tapes: Son of Sam” premieres on July 30 at 9 p.m. on the Smithsonian Channel.
