Playwright Mfoniso Udofia, director Ed Sylvanus Iskandar and actor Chinasa Ogbuagu join us to discuss “Sojourners” and “Her Portmanteau,” two plays presented in repertory at the New York Theatre Workshop. The pieces are part of Udofia’s nine-part saga, The Ufot Cycle. The cycle follows the life of a Nigerian woman named Abasiama and her family. Throughout the plays, Abasiama struggles with the challenges of her arranged marriage, pregnancy and living in 1970s America while also feeling pulled back to Africa.
"Sojourners" and "Her Portmanteau" run at The New York Theatre Workshop (78 E. 4th St., between Bowery and 2nd Ave.) through June 11.
