Michael Hayden, retired United States Air Force four-star general and former director of the National Security Agency, principal deputy director of National Intelligence and director of the Central Intelligence Agency, joins us to discuss his book Playing to the Edge: American Intelligence in the Age of Terror. Brian Fisher, former commissioner of the New York State Deptartment of Corrections, joins us to discuss the documentary, “Dramatic Escape,” which follows Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA) theatrical productions at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. He's joined by two RTA alums. Climate activist Ken Ward and filmmaker Steve Liptay discuss citizen action on climate change and continued efforts to protest the pipeline in Standing Rock, given the crackdown on journalists and filmmakers. Michael Groden, distinguished university professor emeritus in the Department of English and Writing Studies at Western University, kicks off our new Leonard Lopate Book Club series dedicated to reading James Joyce’s epic Ulysses, often described as “the greatest novel never read.”
