Karen Washington, a farmer in Orange County, New York, Jill Isenbarger, the executive director of the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, and Brian Richter, the Chief Scientist for the Global Water Program of The Nature Conservancy, join us to discuss the book, Letters to a Young Farmer: On Food, Farming and Our Future. Richard Conniff joins us to discuss his recent article for the March 2017 issue of Smithsonian: “The New Age of Discovery” (online title: “A New Age of Discovery Is Happening Right Now in the Remote Forests of Suriname”). Brooke Jarvis, contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine, talks about her article, "The Disenrolled" (online title: “Who Decides Who Counts as Native American?”). Director Evgeny Afineevsky joins us to discuss his documentary, “Cries from Syria,” which premiers on HBO on March 10th.
