Jameel Jaffer serves as the Director, Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, and former Deputy Legal Director of the ACLU. He led the ACLU legal team that sued for the release of the “drone memos,” the U.S. government's legal and policy documents that serve as the basis for targeted killings. He joins us to discuss The Drone Memos: Targeted Killing, Secrecy, and the Law , a collection of primary sources that include the Justice Department white papers that address the assassination of American citizens via drone strikes.
