Gig Alert: The Bad Plus at Rough Trade RecordsTickets: $25, Show at 8PM The trio known as The Bad Plus has spent the past 16 years upending our idea of what a jazz piano trio can be.  Or maybe, since they started in 2000, they’ve just been creating a jazz piano trio for the 21st century.  Their own music is groove-based and has always been augmented by carefully chosen covers, from Black Sabbath to Ornette Coleman.  Their latest album, It’s Hard, is all covers, and includes a prismatic take on Prince, and his song “The Beautiful Ones.”  The Bad Plus plays tonight at Rough Trade.
