EVENT: Screening of 'Defiant Requiem' in observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day
There are songs OF protest and political resistance, and then there are pieces of music that ARE political resistance themselves. The 2012 film “Defiant Requiem” is about how prisoners in a Nazi concentration camp turned a performance of Verdi’s Requiem into an act of defiance. The film “Defiant Requiem” is being screened tonight at the Czech Center New York, on East 73rd street, in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, which begins tonight.
