PATTY BEGAN HER CAREER AS A PAINTER AT THE COOPER UNION IN NEW YORK CITY. AFTER TRANSITIONSING TO FILMMAKING, SHE SPENT EIGHT YEARS AS A FIRST ASSISTANT CAMERA PERSON/FOCUS PULLER. AFTER ATTENDING THE AFI IN LOS ANGELES, SHE WROTE AND DIRECTED “MONSTER” AND IT WAS NAMED BEST FIRST FEATURE BY THE 2004 INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS, ONE OF THE TEN BEST FILMS OF THE YEAR BY THE AFI, BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR, AND # 3 FILM OF THE DECADE BY CRITIC ROGER EBERT. THE MOVIE ALSO EARNED STAR CHARLIZE THERON AN OSCAR, GOLDEN GLOBE, SAG AWARD, AND NUMBEROUS CRITICS AWARDS IN THE BEST ACTRESS CATEGORY FOR HER STUNNING PERFORMANCE.
JENKINS HAS DIRECTED A PLETHORA OF COMMERCIALS AND TV PROGRAMS INCLUDING THE EMMY AWARD WINNING FOX SERIES “ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT” AND HBO’S ENTOURAGE.” SHE WAS NOMINATED FOR A PRIMETIME EMMY AND WON THE DGA AWARD FOR HELMING THE TV PILOT OF “THE KILLING.” SHE WAS ALSO NOMINATED FOR THE DGA AWARD FOR THE FINAL SEGMENT OF A SERIES OF FIVE SHORT FILMS ABOUT BREAST CANCER FOR LIFETIME—A PROJECT SHE SHARED WITH FELLOW DIRECTORS JENNIFER ANISTON, ALICIA KEYS, DEMI MOORE AND PENELOPE SPHEERIS.
SHE RECENTLY DIRECTED THE PILOT EPISODE OF “BETRAYAL” FOR ABC, AND IS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED TO BEGIN PRODUCTION ON “I AM SUPERMAN,” A FEATURE FILM THAT SHE ALSO WROTE, IN THE SPRING OF 2014.
