DAVID ZUCKER is a writer, producer, and director who has created some of the most iconic and popular comedy movies ever made, including "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" series, and is considered a pioneer in the spoof and mockumentary comedy genres. Beginning in college with his brother Jerry and friend Jim Abrahams, Zucker successfully produced and showed comedy shorts in the back of a college book store, before opening the "Kentucky Fried Theater" group in Los Angeles. The trio self-financed a 10-minute short to attract investors to their first film, the smash hit "Kentucky Fried Movie". David Zucker went on to co-write and/or direct or co-direct several successful comedy movies including "Airplane!", the "Naked Gun" series, "BASEketball" (based on a real game invented in Zucker's driveway) starring Trey Parker and Matt Stone, "Scary Movie 3", and "Scary Movie 4". "Airplane!" was nominated for a Golden Globe and BAFTA award, and was entered into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2010.
