John Savage’s major screen debut came in 1978 with the Oscar-winning Best Picture film, "The Deer Hunter," which gained him international attention for his work.
He also had notable roles in "The Godfather Part III", Milos Forman’s legendary musical "Hair," and Terrence Malick's "The Thin Red Line."
During the late 80’s through mid 90’s, Savage worked with Nelson Mandela to lent his role as a celebrity to the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa.
His most recent projects include “Goliath Show” with Billy Bob Thornton, "Twin Peaks” directed by David Lynch, “Indubious Battle” directed by James Franco, “Torch” directed By Christopher Coppola And “The Last Full Measure” directed by Todd Robinson.
